Pianist Lara Downes presents a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Clara Schumann (September 13, 2019) - composer, pianist and pioneer.

Downes fashions Clara Schumann’s music and writings from her letters and diaries into a portrait of an extraordinary life: fetishized prodigy, determined bride, superstar, breadwinner, muse, collaborator, wife and mother, unsolved mystery - and most of all, a woman far ahead of her time.

CLARA features performances of Clara’s Sonata in G Minor, her piano Romances and Variations, as well as new works by women composers including Paola Prestini, Gity Razaz, and Freya Waley-Cohn, highlighted as bicentennial tributes to Clara’s legacy.
